Medical Tattooing

Medical Tattooing is an advanced form of permanent cosmetics.

It is sometimes referred to as micropigmentation, cosmetic tattooing, permanent or semi-permanent make-up.

The implantation technique deposits tiny individual implants of pigment into the dermal layer of the skin.

This treatment can be used, following a burn injury, to:

  • Restore eyebrows that cannot grow back.
  • Correct symmetry around the lips and eyes.
  • Restore the nipple/areola.

The Foundation has established a relationship with Karen Betts, who is renowned as one of the top permanent cosmetic artists, to provide treatments to burn survivors. Watch the video below to see Nicole at Karen Betts.

KPF are only able to provide these treatments to burn survivors over 18 years who are living in the UK.

Please email the Foundation, Workshops and Treatments for further information.

“The tattooing that the Foundation arranged for me was definitely worth doing. Karen Betts really put me at ease and made me feel more comfortable that nothing was going to go wrong and be permanently on my face. She shaped my eyebrows and let me get used to how they looked and then she started. When they were done, they looked very alien but I quickly got used to them, especially when they got lighter over the following days.

Now I cannot imagine how I went 5 years without eyebrows! Thank you so much, it’s little things like this that make such a huge difference, however it is often overlooked and forgotten.

Eternally grateful.”
