Founded by a Survivor, for Survivors

Founded in 2009 by burns survivor Katie Piper OBE, the Katie Piper Foundation exists so that no one living with burns or traumatic scarring ever feels alone.

We’re the only UK charity offering a complete rehabilitation pathway beyond NHS acute care. Our mission is simple but vital: to ensure every survivor has access to lifelong support – long after the emergency has passed.

We provide clinically led, trauma-informed rehabilitation that supports the whole person – physically, emotionally and psychologically. Whether an injury is recent or decades old, we walk alongside survivors, their families, and loved ones for as long as we’re needed.

Katie's Story

In 2008, Katie Piper survived a brutal acid attack that changed her life forever. Her long recovery- marked by pain, surgery, and emotional rebuilding- showed her something vital: hospital treatment was only the beginning.

She saw the urgent need for something more: long-term, compassionate, expert support that could help survivors rebuild not just physically, but emotionally and psychologically too.

That realisation became her mission. Katie founded The Katie Piper Foundation so no survivor would ever have to walk this journey alone. Because recovery should mean more than survival—it should mean rediscovering life, strength, and hope.
