Danielle’s life changed forever on New Year’s Eve 2015, when a fire broke out in her family’s motorhome while she slept.

The fire had started beneath her bed. Within moments, Danielle woke up engulfed in flames.

She sustained 85% full-thickness burns.

Danielle was placed into an induced coma for three months, followed by another month in hospital. When she woke, she had to relearn everything -how to walk, talk, and eat, while coming to terms with the trauma she had experienced.

In the aftermath, Danielle felt completely alone. She struggled to process what had happened and couldn’t imagine a future for herself. The life she had known felt like it had disappeared overnight.

But during her recovery, Danielle was introduced to The Katie Piper Foundation. Early in her journey, she attended a burns rehabilitation weekender – an experience she describes as life-changing.

Today, Danielle’s life looks very different to what she once believed was possible. She has found love, adopted her children, and become a passionate advocate for the burns community, committed to helping others see that life after burns is still full of possibility.
